About Michael Leonard

I am Michael Leonard, the owner of MTL Services. First of all, I would like to say thank you to the food industry and all of the people and companies I have been honored to work with throughout my career since 1986. I could not have been more blessed than to be a part of this great industry.

I graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering at NC State University in 1981, I spent the first eight years in engineering & project management. I entered the food industry & sales in 1986 with Square Food Processing Machinery, introducing the Belt Grill to the U.S. market until joining Frigoscandia (JBT Food Tech) in 1989 for 8 ½ years.

In 1997 I assisted in building a small spiral company, Freezing Systems, that later became RMF Freezers.

Over The Years

2005

Foundation

Michael Leonard started MTL Services, a business focused on purchasing, refurbishing, and selling spiral freezers internationally. The company established a 20,000 ft² warehouse in Ozark, AL to house and manage equipment.

2010

Expansion & Diversification

MTL Services expanded its offerings by partnering with Brakebush Brothers and Fieldale Farms, who consigned surplus equipment. This resulted in inventory growth to include fryers, battering and breading machines, oil filters, tumblers, and refrigeration equipment.

2011-2022

Leadership & Growth

Leonard began representing Food Process Solutions (FPS) in Richmond, BC. Collaborating closely with the company’s president, he contributed to FPS’s growth from its beginning to $200 million+ in sales by 2021, retiring in 2022 after 11 productive years.

2005-Present

Globalization

MTL Services grew its global reach, supplying equipment to major clients like Pilgrim’s Pride, Koch Foods, Cargill Meat Solutions, McCain Snack Foods, MAS Enterprises (Dubai), and many more across several continents.
